Mullens is runner-up in Ed Gressel Tribute

Tanner Mullens raced in his home state of Kansas on Saturday and turned in a strong second-place finish in the Ed Gressel Tribute at 81 Speedway.

Twenty-nine Modifieds were on hand for the one-day, $3,000-to-win program featuring USRA Modified rules at the 3/8-mile oval in Park City. Mullens started his evening with a fifth-to-second run in one of three heat races aboard his Sandlian Iron & Metal Auto Salvage No. 02 car, putting him fourth on the grid to begin the 20-lap feature.

He led one lap in the A-Main and finished as runner-up, 1.323 seconds behind Ryan Gustin. Reece Solander, Tyler Davis and Ethan Dotson rounded out the top five.
