Trio of top-10 finishes for Mullens in Fall Jamboree
The Summit USMTS season rolled on from Thursday through Saturday with the 27th annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree at Deer Creek Speedway. Tanner Mullens rolled out from the Spring Valley, Minnesota, track after the three-day event with three consecutive top-10 finishes.
Competition got underway on Thursday with 50 Modifieds in the pit area at the 3/8-mile clay oval, including Mullens’ Mel Hambelton Ford No. 02 machine. Mullens claimed the checkered flag in his heat race after starting on the pole, then started seventh and finished sixth in the 30-lap, $3,000-to-win feature.
With 56 USMTS Modifieds at Deer Creek on Friday, Mullens took third in his heat and won his consolation race. He started from the 13th spot in the $3,000-to-win A-Main and climbed nine positions to turn in a fourth-place result. He finished behind Dustin Sorensen, Joe Chisholm and Terry Phillips, with Jim Chisholm rounding out the top five.
Fifty-two Modifieds were on hand for the Saturday finale. Thanks to Mullens’ Friday and Saturday results, he was locked into the $15,000-to-win finale with the redraw starting him eighth on the grid. He advanced one position in the 50-lap race to finish seventh.
Mullens is currently second in the Summit USMTS point standings with two weekends left for the series in 2025. He is 69 markers behind points leader Rodney Sanders.
