Top-10 finish for Mullens in Gateway Dirt Nationals main event
Tanner Mullens returned to the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis for the first time in five years over the weekend. He competed in a 63-car Modified field as part of the Castrol Gateway Dirt Nationals and wrapped up his season on a high note.
Mullens drove his No. 02 car in preliminary action on Friday, picking up a third-place finish in his heat race on the 1/5-mile track. He started 10th in the 20-lap, $3,000-to-win feature and steered to a seventh-place result.
The next night, Mullens took the third and final transfer position in his Qualifier to earn a spot in the A-Main worth $10,000 to the victor. Mullens rolled off 18th in the 30-lap race and climbed 10 positions to finish eighth, taking the night’s Hard Charger award.
Mullens claimed five feature victories overall in 2024, along with 27 top-fives and 46 top-10 finishes. He also ended the year sixth in the Summit USMTS point standings and fourth in Heartland Modified Tour points.
