Tanner Mullens tackles Wild West Shootout in 85D at CAR

Wichita, Kansas native Tanner Mullens faced a stout field of 67 Modifieds this past weekend as the Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout returned to its Arizona roots at Central Arizona Raceway.

Mullens opened the weekend in strong fashion, capturing his heat race aboard the Mark Dotson-owned No. 85D Modified. He carried that momentum into Saturday’s 25-lap opener, charging forward 13 positions to score an impressive third-place finish, sharing the podium with Cade Dillard and Reece Solander.

Sunday’s action proved more challenging. Mullens was caught behind an early pileup in his heat race, forcing him to dig deep in the B-Main. He nearly pulled off another thrilling charge, advancing 10 positions before narrowly missing a transfer spot by just one car.
